Crystal Clear Financial is a fee-only, Registered Investment Advisor firm.  We do not and will not accept commissions, incentives or kickbacks from anyone.  Our only payment is the payment we receive directly from our customers.

Are you a fiduciary?

Crystal Clear Financial is a fiduciary and we would be happy to put it in writing. Being a fiduciary means that we are legally obligated to do our best to put our clients interests first.

where are you from and what credentials do you have?

Christy (Pastorek) Latraille was born and raised in Grafton, ND.  She graduated from Grafton High School in 2004 and from North Dakota State University with a Bachelors of Science in Accountancy in 2009. Shorty after graduating, she became a Certified Public Accountant and has obtained the Certified Financial Planning™ designation.  She stays up-to-date with the tax code by working for a local accounting firm during tax season.

Who is your ideal client?

Our ideal client is honest and down-to-earth. We specialize in retirees and those near retirement, as well as successful small business owners.  While we only offer investment management to those with at least $250,000 in investable assets, we offer financial planning and project based services at a variety of different levels.

What makes your client experience unique?

One-on-one personalized attention.  As an independent firm, we have more flexibility to customize our service to your needs.  With the clients' permission we will open the lines of  communication between all of the clients' advisors (accountant, attorney, family, etc.) in order to develop the best plan for our client.

Are you more expensive than the competitor?

Once you factor in commissions, expense ratios, trading costs and custodian fees, we are often the lowest cost option with the highest quality service in the area.

What is your investment philosophy?

When Christy first started out, she was suspicious of the entire financial advising industry.  She discovered that there is truly a lot of noise in the investment management world.  Her portfolios often contain low-cost, evidence-based funds from mutual fund companies such as Vanguard and Dimensional.

To the right is a photo of Christy with Jack Bogle, founder of Vanguard and the first index mutual fund.
